Mortar Combat

Description:

This mod adds 2 new mortar structures and 2 new mortar weapons that are craftable and usable by the player once they’ve researched Mortars. Additionally, this mod also adds a new raider type which will use the portable mortars against you during regular raids. These enemies will shoot mortar shells at colonists and turrets from a considerable distance, even over walls, making raiders better at dealing with turtling tactics and killboxes. These portable mortars don’t have an infinite range however, and require some protection as the user is quite vulnerable while attacking.

Weapons:

Portable Explosive Mortar

-Costs 75 steel, 2 components, and 6 high-explosive shells to craft
-Max range of 51, min range of 14
-Warmpup is 7 seconds, cooldown is 4 seconds
-Unlimited uses
-Usable by raiders
-Not very accurate
-Made at machining tables after Mortars have been researched

Portable Incendiary Mortar

-Costs 75 steel, 2 components, and 6 incendiary shells to craft
-Max range of 51, min range of 14
-Warmpup is 7 seconds, cooldown is 4 seconds
-Unlimited uses
-Usable by raiders
-Not very accurate
-Made at machining tables after Mortars have been researched

Portable Antigrain Mortar

-Costs 75 steel, 2 components, and 1 antigrain shells to craft
-Max range of 51, min range of 14
-Warmpup is 7 seconds, cooldown is 4 seconds
-Single use
-NOT usable by raiders
-Not very accurate
-Made at machining tables after Mortars have been researched

Structures:

Light Mortar

-Costs 100 steel, 4 components to build
-Max range of 55, min range of 14
-Warmup is 3 seconds, cooldown is 22 seconds
-Much more accurate compared to regular mortars
-Takes up a single tile
-Half the weight of regular mortars

Rocket Battery

-Costs 300 steel, 75 plasteel, 10 components, 10 high-explosive shells to build
-Min range of 30, no max range
-Fires a volley of 10 rockets at a target area
-Requires 10 high-explosive shells to reload
-Can only fire explosive rockets, will only accept high-explosive shells to reload
*User will not automatically reload after a volley, must be manually rearmed

Raiders:

Siege Mercenary

-130 combat power, (a turret is 45, snipers are 110, heavy and elite mercenaries are 150)
-Will spawn exclusively with either explosive or incendiary portable mortars
-Can spawn in all raids, not only sieges

I would like to thank Garthor for helping me with raider AI, allowing them to properly use portable mortars. Without his contribution, the mortar raiders wouldn’t have been nearly as effective.
